Summer Ale Spritz - Fancy a Drink

Summer Ale Spritz

This is a beer cocktail that combines the lemon and wheat flavor of Sam Adams Summer Ale with the Italian Aperol and some homemade Rosemary syrup. This is a two part recipe in that we need to make the Rosemary Syrup as well as the cocktail itself.

Ingredients

Sam Adams Summer Ale                      1 bottle

Fresh lemon juice                                   1 ounce

Aperol                                                       3/4 ounce

Rosemary syrup                                      1 ounce

Lime wedge

Rosemary sprig

To make Rosemary syrup:

  1. Add 3 to 5 rosemary sprigs, 1 cup of water, and 1 cup of sugar into a saucepan.
  2. Cook on high heat for 7 minutes.
  3. Stir until the sugar dissolves.
  4. Let the syrup cool for 15 minutes
  5. Strain into a sealable container.
  6. Refrigerate until you’re ready to use (but for at least 30 minutes after cooling).

The syrup will keep for up to 2 weeks.

Directions
  1. Fill a blender about ¾ with ice.
  2. Pour in the bottle of Sam Adams.
  3. Add Lemon Juice and homemade Rosemary Syrup.
  4. Blend until it is smooth.
  5. Fill a Pilsner glass about half way with ice and pour in the blended drink.
  6. Top off with Aperol.
  7. Garnish with Rosemary sprig and Lime wedge.
